Assistant General Manager

Main Functions:

The Assistant General Manager will support the General Manager with all aspects of The Blue Heron Company’s operations. The Assistant General Manager must also demonstrate strong communication skills and superior leadership abilities.

General Manager

 

Job Duties:

Assistant General Manager may perform some or all of the following duties:

 Oversee day-to-day operations of all locations and ensure all policies and procedures are followed correctly.

 Help with scheduling including but not limited to managing conflicts, time off and shift change requests.

 Provide assistance to all Location Managers on their days off in order to ensure all tasks are completed by staff.

 Answer phone calls and emails on a regular basis.

 Complete bookkeeping tasks when Office Manager is off or not present.

 Maintain a neat and orderly work environment.

 And all other duties as assigned by the General Manager.

 

Skills Requirements:

Experience is an asset, as are the following specific skills:

 Cash register and credit card terminal operation

 Computer use and trouble shooting skills are a must

 

Essential Skill Requirements:

 Superior Oral and Written Communication

 Ability to work with minimal supervision

 Continuous learning

 Ability to locate and find needed information without direct supervision

 Ability to work with others

 Punctual, meticulous and reliable

 Knowledge of the Tobermory area to answer questions from patrons

 

Working Conditions:

 Workweeks are 5 or 6 days, Monday – Sunday, 6-12 hours per day, no shifts beginning before 7:00 am or finishing later than 11:00 pm.

 The Assistant General Manager is entitled to a ˝ hour paid lunch and two 15 minute coffee breaks paid time – but the time this is taken should be flexible

 The Assistant General Manager is frequently exposed to noise and a regular flow of people

 The Assistant General Manager will be assigned changing priorities

 The Assistant General Manager may have the opportunity to work overtime, with paid compensation
