Flowerpot Island

Flowerpot Island is located 6.5 kilometers northwest of Tobermory and is the destination of the Blue Heron V. It is well worth a visit if time allows, two hours is sufficient for a quick walk around the Island, but three to four hours is required if you want to see it all.

The Island is part of Fathom Five National Marine Park ( except for the area around the lightstation, which is managed by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans ), and is famous for the two rock pillars or sea stacks on its eastern shoreline. There are 4.3 kilometers of well marked trails that cover the east side of this 200 hectare Island and limited dockage at Beachy Cove for shallow draft vessels. If you would like to stay overnight there are six campsites, or "Friends of Fathom Five" volunteers can stay at one of the old light keepers residences.

We will be dropping passengers off onto a moveable dock at various locations around the Island. These drop off locations can be rocky with uneven ground.  The Department of Fisheries and Oceans property, which is the area containing the lighthouse keepers residences and the lighthouse, may be dangerous, and visitation is at the travelers own risk. Non-slip footwear is required.
